Marian Moments

I was thinking about my wonderful times at good ole Marian College (in Indianapolis, Indiana and not Fond du Lac, Wisconsin) and I thought it was time to post some pictures from last year around this time.
We were such a fun group.

Blowing in the Wind

I was just looking at some of the pictures on here and it made me really sad to realize how BLUE the ocean gets the further north you go. And I never really noticed that until I looked at the pictures of the Long Beach skyline compared to the San Francisco skyline. Gross.

And just to give all of you non-Central Coast of California people an idea of how all of this works, I am going to provide you with a list of the towns on here from furthest north to furthest south.

San Francisco
Pacifica
Pacific Coast Highway
San Simeon
Morro Bay
San Luis Obispo
Pismo Beach
Santa Ynez--Michael Jackson's Ranch
Solvang
Simi Valley
North Hollywood--Circus Liquor's Picture
Long Beach

I fell in love with California when I first set eyes on Long Beach when Liz and I were out here in 2003. Looking back on it, Long Beach is kind of dirty and gross, as is most of the greater LA area, (which is where we spent all of our time). Then again, we were star struck so we can't be blamed. Now, every time I drive home from Chris's, I feel ill because I can see where the sky turns from smoggy-yucky-brown to beautiful-crystal-clear-blue. And, trust me, it's a lot further north of Los Angeles than I want to think about.

Of course, San Luis Obispo doesn't really have that whole pollution issue since there are not a whole lot of people around here, there are no drive thrus in the entire city, and people get really obsessed with the idea of "big businesses" moving into town. I'm not saying it's not a nice city. I'm just saying that I can never call Indianapolis, Muncie, or even Valparaiso boring again. Kouts, well, that's a different story. Although if the wind is blowing just right on a warm day in SLO, the air from the cattle field on campus blows over towards me and the smell of cow poop reminds me that I'm really not that far from home.
